Powers: Jane has visions of the future and sometimes the past. The visions are often highly symbolic and vague, making them difficult to understand. Apart from the detailed visions, during which she will most often be in a trance-state, partly unaware of her surroundings, she also experiences short flashes of insight. These too are symbolic and will mainly be related to people with whom she interacts.
She used to experience great physical discomfort in relation with the visions but by working on controlling them with Dr. McCoy and Miss Frost she has been able to lessen the physical side effects (nausea, fits, unconsciousness).
She is able to induce the trance-states herself but rarely does so. The visions may still cause her discomfort, above all else because she often feels powerless in regards to what she sees. The trance-states can be brought on by stillness, sense depravation, repetitive sounds, and repetitive movements but this is mainly the case if she is stressed or agitated.
The visions take place on the astral plane and Jane is still working with Miss Frost to gain better control.
The visions are not fool-proof. They’re subject to interpretation and human error and Jane does not always have great confidence in her skills.
Personality: As a result of her powers Jane often seems slightly “not-there”. She is somewhat scattered and confused at times, but very imaginative and intelligent, having always preferred theory to practice. Her childhood was secure but somewhat lacking in affection and being able to provide comfort and affection to others is very important to her. She is stubborn and emotional.
She desperately wants to be useful.
History: Middle-class background. Had fits as a child. It was assumed that she might suffer from epilepsy in some form. This was however not the case. She underwent physical therapy. Didn’t help. Neither did the counseling.
Her parents divorced and she didn’t feel any real loss when going off to University. In Old English she was introduced to Beowulf and via this poem ancient Norse beliefs. She realized that the description of the female soothsayers of Norse sagas, vølverne, and what they did was quite fitting. It frightened her. As did her visions.
She had no really close friends. No lovers. She was considered to be a gifted student and finished her Masters in record time. She was enrolled in a Ph.D. program in comparative religion at Bereley when she first heard of Weschester.
Jane transferred from Berkeley and spent most of her first year at the Mansion working her way through source material describing seeress/seeressess in different cultures around the world. She also worked on gaining greater control of her mutation and her own reaction to it. Having friends made her bloom, as did a budding romance. When it didn’t work out she was devastated but both things made her more confident and extroverted.
She was offered a position as “house-mother” by the Professor who could see that Jane was a woman in need of roots. She accepted and moved into a different part of The Mansion.
Her main task is to be someone the students can go to when talking with a teacher (or an X-Man) isn’t ideal. She also helps run the household and does her best to make The Mansion (the school/base/training ground/etc.) feel a little more like a home.
Additional stuff: She has a very loud laugh that seems even more so because she tends to be fairly quiet. And since she has seen her own death in visions over the years, she can be reckless at times. When she believes she has nothing to fear.

Changes from WX - Jane has not been involved with Dr. McCoy. She's been on a couple of dates with Laurent but it never amounted to much. Even when she convinced herself that it might have.
